Again, I got to the club a bit later than everyone else, as I had to go to work during the day and didn’t finish until the time that Leicester Photographers Club was due to start.
When I arrived there were people already taking photos, so I walked over to see what was happening and saw that there was a big bowl with loads of cockroaches in it.
It was explained that he had brought along 2 types of cockroaches and 2 different tarantulas. The first lot of cockroaches were more a food for some of his other animals and the bigger hissing cockroaches that he would get our later are more of a pet.
Now I’m not going to say that I am a massive fan of these animals, I don’t think I’d really want to touch them, but so long as they are in a controlled environment, then I’m fine with photographing them.
The cockroaches moved around quite a lot, which made photographing them a bit more difficult than the tarantulas, as they pretty much stayed put one they were comfortable.
They are definitely different than what I normally take photos of, and hopefully I can do more of these if he wants to bring them down to the club on other occasions.
