August started off with me going along to The Photography Social, with the theme of the night being ‘Pink’. We had a mixture of pink clothing, makeup, backdrops, lighting and props to create images filled with pink. The model for this event was Charlotte, and we created some great images.
Next up was an evening at The Attic with the shoot titled ‘It’s a Wrap’. The idea of this night was that the model, Lasma, would be wrapped in various different items, starting with packaging paper, them bubble wrap, finishing with a black kind of cling film type thing (I didn’t see the wrapping take place, so not entirely sure what it was). It was an interesting and different evening, and gave me a few ideas for a future shoot.
Back to PGD, but this time it was an event with Click Group Shoots, working with Black Beauty. I’d worked with her years ago when I first started moving into model photography and have wanted to work with her again, but never arranged anything, so this was the perfect opportunity. A few different setups and outfits on the night to create a variety of images, and it was a really fun shoot.
A week went by without me using my camera as the next shoot was back again with Click. This wasn’t my favourite shoot, it was one I went to as more of a social, while taking some photos. The idea was to kind of recreate old paintings/photos but by using different or everyday objects, and I just wasn’t feeling it. I managed to get some decent photos, but I have to say that this isn’t my favourite style of photography.
Another evening at PGD Studios, for The Photography Social, with a ‘Suited and Booted’ theme. This evening the models were Chloe and Niall. For these images I thought that black and white would work really well, so most of them were converted to monochrome for the final images. Towards the end of the event I tried something different, using a larger light source and really shallow depth of field for a few headshots, and it worked really well for the style of this shoot, even though you couldn’t really see much of the outfits.
