I have arrived, it’s Glastonbudget 2023 time! Another sort of live blog as I go over the weekend
Car parked, lanyard collected and it’s off to the Big Top for the first band of the day. I can see a list of times for bands on each stage in the VIP tent, but last year that was completely wrong for timings, so let see how this goes
Timings seem to be accurate so far, seen the first few bands on the Big Top stage and also to opener on the Icon and Main stage. Just relaxing in the sun with a beer now, waiting for FuFu Sailors to go on the main stage
So far so good, I’ve seen quite a few bands over all the stages, but I’ve not headed to the LoCo stage yet.
The sun is a killer, really warm but also on a couple of the stages it’s making it a bit tricky to take photos. Guess I’ll have to wait till I’m back home tonight to see how they’ve come out.
I will try and list all the bands I’ve seen at the end of this post, that way it saves searching through all the photos if I haven’t taken photos of a specific band
And it’s that time of day where I head to my car and relax for 10 minutes, grab a bite to eat and a drink, and listen to the music coming from the main stage. This time it’s the sound of The Fillers as I take a short break
Well today has flown by, only got 3 more acts to see and then I’ll be heading off home, ready to do it all again the next two days. We have Michael starring Ben to headline the main stage tonight, can’t wait for that
Fantastic first day of Glastonbudget 2023. It turned a bit cold as the sun went down but that is always the case. Was tempted to grab my hoodie from the car but didn’t bother in the end.
Caught the Michael Jackson tribute headlining the main stage and briefly nipped over to see the Big Top headliners, Jilted Generation before heading back to the main stage
Now just about to drive home and try and get some photos edited before a well deserved sleep
Start of the second day, arrived a bit later than planned to and missed the first band on the Big Top stage, but made it in time to catch a bit of The Mercians set as they opened up the Main Stage. It’s going to be a long but amazing day
Another little break as I grab a drink and stay out the sun for a bit. Really impressed with the Young Elton tribute on the Big Top, saw most of that set but briefly nipped off to the Icon and Main Stage to grab a few photos on there. I now have the fantastic sounds of SKAM for company as I’m sitting in the VIP tent
A few more bands seen but if I’m honest, the main bands I want to see are tomorrow on the main stage. Marcia Lynette as Whitney was good, had the crowd singing along to all the Whitney hits
I keep nipping by the Icon Stage for more of the local bands, but gone are the days when I’d have known of quite a few of them. There are a few names I recognize, but that’s more from previous Glastonbudgets rather than I’ve been to their gigs elsewhere.
The last couple of hours has consisted of me stopping by the three main stages to grab some photos but then either taking a seat on the grass in the Big Top or going to the VIP bar which is right next to the Main Stage to listen to the music going on.
The timings seem to be working out better today in that one stage will start, 10 minutes later another band starts on another stage and then 10 minutes later another band, it means I can get some photos in the space of around half an hour for three bands and then relax for a while and just enjoy the music. Hopefully it’s similar tomorrow as there are a few bands I want to see on the Main Stage
The rest of the evening was spent wandering around the three main stage and chilling out, listening to the music. I was sort of in auto pilot mode as it was mainly bands I’d seen before at previous Glastonbudgets and while they were all great, the bands they are tribute to are not my favourites anyway.
Seriously Collins and Antarctic Monkeys headlined the Big Top and Main Stage, and then I headed home.
Another fantastic day enjoying the music in glorious sunshine. I’d have to say the highlight so far was Young Elton earlier on today, I stayed around for most of that set.
A few photos edited overnight and added to the gallery below, and it’s back out for the final day of Glastonbudget 2023
Weather looks a bit cloudier, but hopefully the rain stays away and we can have a rain free weekend
As with most years, I’ve neglected this a bit, always happens towards the end of the three days. I’ve mainly been going between the Main Stage and Big Top, and if there’s a band on the Icon stage while I’m passing I’ll stop by to have a listen.
Just on was Pure Paloma, who was amazing once again, and I’m really looking forward to the rest of the bands on the Main Stage today
I’ve not seen as many bands today, but I’ve probably spent more time listening to / watching bands today as I’ve seen almost full sets of a few bands.
The Main Stage and Big Top have a theme each today, Big Top is ‘Mockstars of Rock’ (Mockstar are the organisers of the festival) and the Main Stage is ‘Ladies Day’, so I’ve pretty much been staying at the Main Stage with the odd trip down to the Big Top to catch a couple of songs from each act down there.
I have also been trying to keep up to date with the sporting events, but signal isn’t the best here to stream the football, so I had to settle for refreshing the latest scores.
I’m just taking a quick break before Totally Tina headlines the Main Stage after an incredible set by Vicky Jackson as P!nk
I saw Whole Lotta DC for a couple of songs before I went to the Main Stage for Totally Tina
A great tribute to start off the set after the recent passing of Tina Turner, a minutes clapping to a verse and chorus of Simply The Best, with a video playing on the big screen at the back of the stage. There was a lot of emotion through out the crowd and performers on stage, it was clear to see
And with that, it’s all over for another year. Glastonbudget 2023 has been excellent. The weather was glorious for two days and the rain held off on the last day. Can’t wait to be back in 2024
