October had a busy finish with 3 Halloween Glitterbug shows, but before that there were a few things I went along to
I attended one event at Meadows Camera Club, with TJ as the model for the evening
Creative Photography Events had two events I went along to, one with a ‘Dry Ice’ them and one with a ‘Lingerie’ theme
Another two events with The Photography Social, ‘Lets Rock’ was the first one, and then there was ‘Horror Show’ towards the end of the month for Halloween
I attended one gig, at Firebug, where Gender Roles headlined, with Switchdown as support
Finally,...
September had a few things I went along to with my camera, lots of group shoots, a couple of solo shoots and I also helped out a friend to get some photos for a music video
The Photography Social had a few events this month, one theme of ‘Suited’ with Chloe and Ross as the models. Another theme was ‘Autumnal’ with Klaudia and Chloe modeling. There was a ‘Ripped’ theme, Aimee and Klaudia were at that one. And finally, there was a ‘Sports’ themed evening with Garry and Chloe the models for that.
At Meadows Camera Club we had two events in September, one where we had Keely...
In August there were a few things I went along to with my camera
There was an art event from LOROS called ‘Rocket Round Leicester’ with lots of different designs of rockets scattered around the city, thought I’d go and take photos of them
For Creative Photography Events there were 2 evenings I went along to this month, one with a Hippy Chick theme and the other with a Shower theme
At Solo Studio, we had Lauren along with us for one evening
Ayla held a flour group shoot and workshop day at PGD, and while I’ve already been along to a couple of these events before, if I can,...
Back to some type of normality, and then later on in the month a lot more restrictions were lifted, so I was actually able to go to a live music gig and stand up. We’re not there, yet, but hopefully now it’s sooner rather than later.
July started out with two Glitterbug events on consecutive nights
I worked with one of the performers of the Glitterbug shows, Sian Black, who was spectating one night and then performing, so she stayed over and we managed to fit a shoot in.
Creative Photography Events held their summer spectacular, Dark Circus, and while it didn’t go fully to plan...
It’s so good to be back!!
First live music gig that I’ve been to in about 16 months, and what a way to get back to it. Out at The Musician to see Siobhan Mazzei and MuddiBrooke.
I’ve been to a few burlesque shows while restrictions have been in place, one last Halloween, and then a couple more recently at the beginning of July, but as they are normally sit down shows anyway, the main difference was there being fewer people there. There have been some live music shows popping up recently, but until the latest restrictions were lifted, I haven’t been to any as sitting down and not being...
June was a bit of a mixed bag, with everyone hoping that the majority of restrictions would be lifted on June 21st, plans had been made but then we heard the news that there would be a 4 week delay and the new date is now July 19th. For me, I also received a notification from the app that I had to self isolate for 6 days, so that limited my photography as well. Having said all that, I did manage to get out with my camera a few times this month.
Creative photography events are still continuing to hold outdoor evenings, with groups of upto 30 allowed to meet outside. For this first event we had an urban...
I went out a few times this month with my camera, and while it’s still not back to being a new ‘normal’, at least a few events are starting back up either with limited numbers indoors or outdoors.
I started out with one more shoot for my headshot project, working with Amy. This may be my last one for a while on this project as I mainly started it back up when we were only allowed to meet up with one other person outside, so it was the perfect project for it. Being able to meet outdoors in groups of upto 30, I’ll probably be doing other types of shoots for a while
My first time working...
This month I’ve been back to doing a few more shoots due to people being able to meet up with one other person at the end of March and then from 12th April all non essential retail was allowed to re-open, which included photography studios. I’ll be back to listing things just as bullet points for a while, maybe I’ll get the urge to write more at some point, but at the minute I’m glad to be back out taking photos.
I worked on another shoot for my headshot project with Aimee
My first time working with Cherelle out on location, we went for an urban style around some streets near the city...
Freedom!!
Well, not exactly, but at least I can go outside and do some location photo shoots now.
It’s been a while since I was last out with my camera, in fact my main camera I haven’t used to take photos since the beginning of December last year, although I did do a tiny bit of video with it more recently. On my walks when I’ve taken a camera out, I’ve taken a more portable one that easily fits in a bag rather than taking a specific camera bag with me.
I missed out a post for February as I didn’t really do much except a bit of video for a local burlesque performer, and I’ll...
Entering January in a national lockdown isn’t promising for any photography to come, but we’ll just have to wait and see how it goes.
For the first part of January I hadn’t used my cameras at all, but then later on in the month I took it along on a few walks. I did start off with a remote shoot, but as that didn’t involve me getting my camera out, it kind of doesn’t count.
The Photography Social has decided to start doing some remote shoots and they needed some people to test it out. Originally I was busy on the evening they were doing it, but things changed and I was able to male...
Another short one as when the 4 week lockdown ended, we were right back into the tier system, and then another lockdown for the whole of England. I only used my camera on four occasions during December.
A local photography group had a sort of competition at the end of the year, with the broad theme of ‘2020’. I knew a lot of people would enter an image that was taken in 2020, but I wanted to take something specific, mainly as a reason to use my camera, so thought about what I could take and decided to use some disposable masks to create the image. A bit of experimentation, but it was good...
This is going to be quite a short one as from early on in November the whole of England went back into a national lockdown and there wasn’t much I could do photography wise. However, I did manage to get out on a few occasions before that was put in place.
I worked with Jade on my headshot project, another one that I’d been wanting to get done for a while, it was just finding a time that we could do it. Staying pretty local to where Jade lives, we walked around to find a few different locations and despite the wind giving us a few issues on the day, we managed to get what we needed in quite...
October actually had one live show that I could go along to which was towards the end of the month as Glitterbug had their Halloween show, and that has its own special post so go check that out. Other than that, it’s pretty normal for these months with local restrictions, a few solo shoots and some socially distanced group shoots.
We’ll start off with a couple of shoots that book-ended October, both working on my headshot project, with Nico and Tilly. Both of these had been planned for earlier on but with restrictions had to be postponed and rescheduled, and we finally managed to get them...
What’s this then, a live burlesque show in 2020?
You read that right, we were allowed back out, for what turned out to be one night only, to have a live Glitterbug burlesque Halloween show at Firebug in Leicester.
This was obviously a very different show to previous Glitterbugs, but it was nice to see people back on that stage with a live audience, even if the Zoom shows have been well received and very entertaining.
Right up until the day before the show, I still didn’t know if I would be attending or not. When the show was first announced, there was obviously a lot of confusion...
