I’ve been slacking recently with these blog posts, so at the times I’ve not really wanted to write much, I’ve left them to come back to later on and then it just doesn’t happen. Going forward I’m going to basically list the events I went along to and took photos at, and if I get the urge to write about it then I will, otherwise it’ll just be left with the event title, so that I don’t fall too far behind.
The Soapgirls gig at The Esquires in Bedford
Meadows camera club, subject of bearded gentlemen
The Photography Social with a Tribal Warriors theme
Working with Misty...
August started off with me going along to The Photography Social, with the theme of the night being ‘Pink’. We had a mixture of pink clothing, makeup, backdrops, lighting and props to create images filled with pink. The model for this event was Charlotte, and we created some great images.
Next up was an evening at The Attic with the shoot titled ‘It’s a Wrap’. The idea of this night was that the model, Lasma, would be wrapped in various different items, starting with packaging paper, them bubble wrap, finishing with a black kind of cling film type thing (I didn’t see the wrapping...
July started off with me going along to Meadows camera club for an evening working with Courtney. There wasn’t much of a plan for shooting, but upon entry to the studio I did see that there were a couple of new wallpaper backdrops attached to a wooden board on wheels, that I thought we could use at some point in the night. As Courtney has come camo themed clothing, we decided the first setup should be using a kind of leaf netting, and I thought of the idea to add some green/blue gels to it. The next two setups also used coloured gels and then we finished off with the new backdrops.
This month was bookended by me going along to a few SoapGirls gigs. These have different blog posts so I’ll link to those now. It started off with a couple of gigs grouped together in one post, then at the end of the month I went along to three gigs in a row. In between those gigs, June was quite a busy month, so let’s get into it.
Most of the shoots this month were working with various people, either on workshops, group shoots or solo shoots, and I’ll start as the month started, with me attending Meadows camera club and working with Gemma for the first time.
This was a fun shoot, Gemma...

I decided to put off uploading the first part of this blog post as I knew I’d be seeing The SoapGirls again soon, so I’m combining a couple of events into this one post.
I saw TheSoapGirls once before on this tour, that was in Rotheram at The Trades for their first Saturday show of this current ‘Sniff My Strap’ tour. Since then they have been off around Europe touring for the last month and now they are back on UK soil to carry on over here.
I made the short journey to Derby as The SoapGirls were playing at The Hairy...
This blog will be in chronological order as I’m going to be writing this in parts after I’ve been doing things. May got off to a bit of a slow start with me not even using my camera for the first week, but then the first event I went to was with The Photography Social.
I didn’t know if I’d be going along to this one as I was working during the day, but I put my camera in the back of my car on my way to work and then decided I might as well go along. I haven’t been to that many events here since they moved studios and this evening's event looked interesting, so I headed straight from...
I’m going to be doing another somewhat live blog post this year, basically updating when I’ve got time as to what I’m doing and who I’ve seen. I didn’t plan ahead so if you’re reading this post before the Saturday then there are no photos, not even a header, sorry about that, but hopefully that should be rectified when I get some photos up after the first day.
This is I think my fifth year in a row at Glastonbudget and it’s one of the local festivals I really look forward to each year and even book time off work for if I have to, as I have this year. I’ve only just arrived on site,...
This month consisted of mainly photography club shoots, as do most months, with there being a variety of clubs to attend in Leicester on various nights. While I can’t go along to any event every week due to my work schedule, most weeks I can go along to at least one. Other than these events, there were a couple of photo shoots I had organised to continue on with my projects, a burlesque show, a music gig and a late night / early morning attempt at capturing water drops. Let’s start with the photography clubs.
Ok, so this one isn’t technically a photography club event, as it wasn’t on it’s...
March continued right where February left off as I attended another event at Map studio. This one also had Chris Conway teaching, but it again wasn’t a workshop, it’s billed as a portfolio builder, and the model was Lyssa Noir. We managed to fit in 5 different sets, with various looks to each one and I came away with some fantastic images. These events aren’t for everyone, and I know a few people who just will never do anything that is in any way like a group shoot, but I really enjoy these events that Chris Conway hosts.
The following day I was back at Map studio and this time I was there...
February started off really busy, in fact the first day I was working a 12 hour shift and still attended a gig in the evening before having to work again the next day.
This was a gig for Independent Venue week at The Soundhouse, and I wanted to go along as there were two bands I really like and have seen play quite a few times now, Switchdown and Kynch, while the headliners were a band I’ve wanted to see for a while as I’ve heard lots about them, Earls. Unfortunately as I was at work during the day, I couldn’t arrive for the start of the gig, but opening up were Handwaxx and I managed...
